Furniture we produce are descended from the tradition of Japanese Shiba-furnitures.
While holding a great traditional crafts, we had also been developing to marry tradition to the innovative materials.
We are proud to work closely with top brands such as: Cassina(Italy) , Arflex (Italy), Call(Germany) and Wilkhahn (Germany) for the skills and technological exchange. We are also the licensed manufacturer of many top furniture brands Japan and overseas, including the mentioned above.
Gotanda-Seisakusho had been proving its high set of skills and experience with multiple antique restorations of Japanese historical heritages. Restorations of: furniture in Akasaka Imperial Palace Guest House, Historical Chair of Jiro Shirasu or Imperial State Carriage are just some examples that we can be proud of. These work which requires expertise proves our competence and profession in the fieled.

宮本茂紀 Shigeki Miyamoto
– a first Japanese furniture design modeler

Miyamoto is one of the most respected upholsterer in Japan who produced and restored many Japanese traditional furniture as well as European furniture. He developed the idea for licensed production system for multiple world top furniture brands to enable their production in Japan.
His work has also contributed for many Japanese furniture design and production system. For example, many furniture makers had been assisted by Miyamoto while transforming designed and developed products from Japan to overseas for production and sales. On the other hand, he is a pioneer modeler in Japan who prototypes Japan’s leading designers and architects. He is one of the leading personal of current Japanese porotype modelling society

Upholster from Shizuoka with Japanese National Medal of Honor

Shigeki Miyamoto was born in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan in 1937.
Since 1953, he has been schooled with Saito upholster. Thus, he had been working with Miyoshi-Mokko, Takashimaya in Tokyo, Mitsukoshi, Naigai, Hokkaido-Oshima production as upholster. He had also been Central Trade Skill Test Commissioners for the Japanese Ministry of Labor, Chairman of the Tokyo Upholster Association, and thought on multiple Universities such as; Musashino Art University, Tama Art University, Joshibi University of Art and Design, Komazawa Women’s University.
He is authorized instructor and qualified upholster by Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Also an Honorary Chairman of the Japanese Upholster Association.
In 2007, he was honored with Yellow Ribon Medal of Honor, awarded to individuals who “through their diligence and perseverance while engaging in their professional activities, became public role models”.
Currently, he is one of the top upholster and furniture modeler, leading the Gotanda-Seisakusho as its CEO.
